Traditional paintball tournaments

Traditional paintball tournaments are basically played using three varieties of games. The first one includes one similar to that of childhood game; which can be played by everyone and is known as Capture the Flag. The Next variety includes the game of center flag and the third game is a more recent concept; which is known as X-ball. However for scoring well in these kinds of tournaments and games and getting an ace with paintball markers, you need to be aware of some strategies that can make a huge difference in the outcome of your game.

Strategies for Capture the Flag

If you remember the good old days of leisure or camp then you would certainly enjoy ‘Capture the Flag’. This game includes capturing the oppossite team's flag and then heading back to your team's flag point. During paintball tournaments these kinds of games are often known as woods-ball play. Usually the teams also get bonus points for eliminating opponents or for retaining a set of players till the end of the game. In the regular tournaments, teams may be different sizes. These can vary between 3 and 20.

This depends on the number of players allowed for each team and in most of the tournaments the teams are smaller on a grass field along with bunkers and paintball markers.

Center flag

The game of Center Flag is almost similar to ‘Capture the flag’ and here only one flag is placed in the center of the field. Any teams that capture this flag and are successful in taking it to a designated area are victorious. The Area of their winning is usually the starting point of the opponents and it is commonly played in a format of 3, 5, or 7-man. The X-Ball consists of multiple rounds and it involves two opponents playing until game time is over.

The scoring system here is based on a single point per team; which is given whenever they win the centre of flag. Paintball games are carried continuously for 50 minutes and the team that scores maximum points is declared as the winner. Each of these matches are divided into two halves, with a maximum of 5 players in the game, who may be substituted after scoring one point.

Strategies for winning

Paintball markers may not be enough to help you win the paintball tournament and there are some other requirements for winning the game. One of the most crucial factors is that you should form a fighting tournament team, and should attack on the enemies positions. The use of maximum force is required here and you should attack your opponent without waiting for the rivals to attack your team. Those who attack the other team and return fire would be shocked with their ability to move around as limited.

When you are playing, yell constantly at your teammates, to keep them motivated and also letting them know about your position. They should remain updated on the position of the enemy and firing from your paintball markers should be managed amongst the team. In case you think that your teammate would be making a move, then ensure that you provide with ample cover. Try to distract the opposition and provide directions, that can be deceiving. This is vital when your cover is being blown and you should get more agitated.

Winning the final hand

One of the most important factors of winning the paintball tournament is to become a good player. You should learn shooting and fire out on both sides of the bunker so that there is no reposition for yourself and you can avoid being a target yourself.
